Ah, Valentine’s Day - the most lovey-dovey day of the year! Whether you’ve been with your partner for years or have only just started dating, 14th February is the perfect time to show them just how much they mean to you - usually with an exchange of gifts.

So, are you the type who plans months in advance? Or do you only remember a few days before? Either way - if you are looking for a bit of inspiration, here are a few ideas that will suit any budget…

Valentine's Day gift ideas

Budget-friendly gifts

Some of the best gifts don’t come with a hefty price tag (I speak from experience here!) - they come from the heart, and are so much more meaningful because of it. So, what can you get that won’t break the bank, but will still show you care?

Write a love letter or poem: A note expressing your love will be more personal than anything store-bought, so write a little something telling them how much they mean to you. And bonus points if you can create your own poem! Borrow a theme or lines from their favourite book or movie if you’re stuck for ideas - I’m a big Harry Potter fan for example… (ahem)

Roses are red, violets are blue,
I solemnly swear that I’m in love with you.
A playlist of songs, a dinner for two,
Like the golden snitch, I’ll always catch you!

What do you think?

DIY coupon book: If you don’t fancy putting pen to paper for a poem, you could instead create a booklet of personalised coupons. These can be for anything you like - for me I’d like breakfast in bed or a chore-free day, but the beauty is you can tailor it to just whatever your partner would enjoy!

Photo or painted memories: Print and frame a memorable picture of the two of you, or take it a step further and create a scrapbook. Feeling a bit more creative? Try painting or drawing something memorable - like the scene where you met, for example, or just your favourite place.

Note reads: Inside this tin are magical adventures waiting to be shared <3

Mid-range gifts

Looking to spend a lil bit more? Here are some creative and meaningful options in the mid-range tier:

Fancy dinner at home: Don’t want to quite splash out on a fancy restaurant? Prepare a romantic meal from your own kitchen, light some candles, and set the mood for a cosy night in. Bonus: throw in a gift like their fave movie (Harry Potter?), some popcorn (salted for me), and a comfy blanket for a perfect night.

Spa kit: Everyone needs a little self-care sometimes! Put together a relaxation hamper so they can pamper themselves, say with a set of bath bombs, scented candles, face masks, that kind of thing...

Flowers and chocolates: Timeless and classic gifts - I’m surprised I’ve got this far without mentioning them. Roses are the obvious choice, with red being the most romantic (just don’t go for yellow - did you know they actually symbolise friendship?), and nice chocolates always go down well, too.

Luxury gifts

Want to go all out this Valentine’s Day? These gifts will surely leave a lasting impression:

Jewellery and fragrances: A beautiful necklace, bracelet, or ring (hint hint) can be a meaningful and lasting symbol of your love. A high-end fragrance can also be a luxurious and personal gift, especially if you know it’s one they particularly like but might not always buy for themselves.

Concert or event tickets: Surprise them with tickets to see their favourite artist in concert (assuming they’ll be touring soon - still waiting for Harry Styles to come back…). Or, opt for a show at your local theatre or even the West End, which could also be part of a fun weekend trip away in the city.

Technology and gadgets: Is there any tech they particularly want, but would never spend the money on for themselves? Treat them this Valentine’s Day, whether it’s a premium smartwatch, high-end headphones, or professional-grade camera.

Gift cards at any price

Hopefully this has given you a few ideas for gifts that you can tailor to your loved one, but if you’re really really stuck on what to buy, a gift card is also a safe and easy choice. This can be any value you like too, with lots of stores and experiences offering them!

Share the love this Valentine’s Day

No matter your budget, the most important thing is showing your love and appreciation in a way that feels personal and meaningful. Whether it’s a handwritten note, a cosy night in, or a luxury surprise, your Valentine’s Day gift should reflect the thought and care you put into it.
